MERCER & MERCER TAX TIME OPERATIONS UPDATE
Monday June 1st marks the un-official end of tax season here at Mercer & Mercer. While we will continue to be working on self-employed tax returns and work for our corporate clients after June 1st, our office schedule will be reverting back to “normal”.
What does that mean?
Effective Monday, our office hours will be:
Monday 8:00 – 4:30
Tuesday 8:30 – 4:30
Wednesday 8:30 – 4:30
Thursday 8:30 – 4:30
Friday 8:30 – 4:00
The exception to these hours is that, Tuesday June 2nd the office will be closed for the day.
As provincial restrictions related to physical distancing etc have not yet been fully lifted, and in wanting to continue to do as much as we can to ensure the safety and health of staff and our clients, we will operate as we have these last few months utilizing electronic methods where possible and if in-person is required, drop-offs/pick-ups through our mail slot.
If you have any questions or concerns about the above, please reach out and let me know.
AN IMPORTANT REMINDER TO OUR INDIVIDUAL AND CORPORATE CLIENTS
Please remember to check with the Department of Finance and CRA websites for ongoing updates to the various federal government relief programs related to COVID-19. They are numerous and subject to rapid change. This is especially important if you were initially turned down for a relief program or felt that you did not qualify. The government has been tweaking the qualifying criteria as well as the duration or programs since they started a few short weeks ago.
The main page for the Department of Finance can be found here:

If you require assistance in determining whether or not you may qualify for these programs, please contact the office and we will do our best to assist.
Also a reminder – IF you have a balance still owing from your personal tax return, to avoid interest and penalties the Canada Revenue Agency has extended the deadline for payments until September 1st, 2020.
Certain corporate filing deadlines have also changed. Please contact the office for more details.
Once again, thank you to all for your patience and understanding as we’ve navigated through what has definitely been a most unusual tax season! Please continue to do your part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and stay healthy and safe!
