To our clients,
A quick update on matters related to operations here at Mercer & Mercer as well as recently announced news on the Temporary Wage Subsidy for Employers:
First off, I would like to extend my deep thanks and gratitude to our fantastic clients who have been very understanding and accommodating as we’ve altered tax-time operations through the week here at the office to as best as possible ensure the ongoing safety of our staff and clients.
We are continuing to operate as close to business-as-usual as we can while doing our part within the office to practice social-distancing and hand-cleaning/sanitization. We revisit policies and procedures daily and make changes as necessary. Everyone has been given the option to work at home if that is their preference or to continue to come to the office at their discretion, or to not work at all if for any reason they feel they are not able to.
As you know we have instituted a locked-door policy for the time being.
We are still accepting tax-information drop-offs and pick-ups. If it is not possible or practical for you to send or receive your tax information electronically, we are utilizing envelopes and the mail slot on the front of our office door to pass information back and forth. If you are wanting to drop off or pickup your tax documents, please contact the office ahead of time so that we know you’re coming.
We have made a slight alteration to our operating hours. Until further notice we will not be open between 5pm and 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings; rather between 8am and 5pm.
If our hours change further, or if we get to the point where we are no longer able to accept drop-off or pick-up requests, I will send another update as well as update our website.
Earlier in the week the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance announced a number of items meant to assist both employees and also employers. Further information became available Friday regarding the Temporary Wage Subsidy for Employers. Please see the link below for details on how this subsidy may benefit you if you are an employer:

If you have any questions on this, please let our office know and we will do our best to assist. As I’m sure you can appreciate, with daily announcements and program changes at the federal and provincial level it can sometimes take a few days (or possibly weeks) for details on these programs to be made available. We will do our best to answer questions and provide assistance as we go along.
I encourage you to continue following updates to the Government of Canada; Department of Finance and Province of Ontario website links for additional and emerging information.
On behalf of myself, and everyone here at Mercer & Mercer we hope that you are staying healthy and safe and doing your part to help flatten the curve on the spread of COVID-19. And we sincerely appreciate all of the cooperation and understanding we have received from you, our valued clients. Thank you all.
Sincerely,
Blake Mercer and the Mercer and Mercer Team
